Started off writing something, then decided that i cannot write about it cause i realised that I am lost for words to write about it. Perhaps this can express my feelings for IT. TOTALLY DISGUSTED.
Chinese can help express my thoughts about it too:
多就滋味少,少就滋味好。
Thats all i can say about it.
Felt really terrible yesterday while doing the Chem promos 06 paper. How to do when im not even equipped with the necessary information? How? You tell me how? I feel as if im being forced to study now and not allowed to study at my own pace. That kind of feeling does not help at all in the process of studying. Its a negative coefficient to studying.
Thankfully, there was someone to talk to when i was feeling that terrible. Thanks a lot to you (:
Aiya dunno what to write liao la.

NoiSing 07
All righty, it has been way too long since i last posted. So i decided that i shall post a post now while im taking a break from my studies. Crap promos are around the corner...
So anw, last Saturday i went to attend a gathering called NoiSing. It is a gathering organised by the echolof DIY community people with the main coordinator being Johari. To me it was an eye opener cause i saw LOADS of high end stuff and the most important thing of all, got to take a look at how other people build their own equipments. Here is alot of pictures for u all to see.
BIGGEST TUBE ON THE DAY AND IT IS USED AS A PREAMP. FTW!
5687 tube preamp biased using LEDs
Kenneth at the computer controlling the fully digital crossover that controls the frequency of the sound coming out from each speaker of the multiway system.
Plasma Tweeters at US$1500 a pair. There were 2 pairs there.
Power cord or snake?
Solid State room
My amp hiding in a corner
Orions
Sexyback ;)
Turntable came on and this turntable has a bamboo arm
Full rangers at $6000 a pair. U want?
DIY 2 way Scanspeak speakers. Good bass.
Preamps using the Aikido topology
Maxonic field coil drivers
Monica 2 DAC
Cool right? Haha okay to me it was cool la. Top picks for me was the Maxonic Filed Coil horns that did not use a normal magnet but instead used a solenoid to generate the magnetic field. Quite intresting. Another intresting one would be the Ducan Plasma Tweeters. YES PLASMA! Normal tweeters have diaphragms that pushes air to produce the sound but for this, u guessed it, it uses plasma to generate the sound. It works basically on the concept of modulating an arc. And one more thing. ALL THESE STUFF ARE NOT CHEAP! For example, the plasma tweeters costs US$1500 a pair-_-. And there is this full ranger that costs $6000 a pair. OMG. ITS JUST A FULL RANGER LEH!
Of course im not a freeloader :P So i contributed in by bringing my amp there to let them play with. They didn't really play much with it la partly because my amp only produces around 2.5Watts and partly because its a Solid State amp. yes the people there prefer tubes. Got the chance to play my amp towards the end of the whole thing. Comments received was that the sound was thin but it is inherent in all solid states amplifiers.

Time for another post on....MY AMP!
LOL... Righto so this is yet another post on my amp. Well after my amp has been completed and weeks of running in, i decided that something is missing in the sound. Compared to the previous amp that i DIYed, it lacked that musicality i would say. I don't get moved when i listen to this amp although the soundstage and details are alot more better. I thought that it could be my opamp that is different cause i used the AD826 i my previous amp and now im using OPA2134. They are in the different league in terms of pricing. The AD826 costs 9 bucks a piece and the OPA2134 costs 4 bucks a piece. Thats more than 2 times the price. I decided to go for OPA2134 this time around because of design constraints. I wanted my amp to have a high input impedance and by doing calculations, i had to use a opamp that had low input current which lead me to use the OPA2134. Okay so anw, i tried swapping the opamps but cannot la, my DC offset jump to over 20mV which i don't feel all right with. So decided to change back and instead do some biasing for the opamp. Yan recommended me to use LM317L to do the biasing as it "takes out the guess work and works much better than using discrete transistors and gates". So went to get the components from SLS and off i started soldering. Solder solder solder solder... and TADA!
Standing up on my circuit board. Point to point wiring. Art work.
So test was up next and boy was it disappointing. It distorted. Crap. Think think think, then suspect is my power supply to my opamp cause i had this circuit to limit the initial surge to the filter caps for the opamp. It actually also limit the maximum current. Removed it and YAY! good sound. Installed it for both sides and done. Did not listen to it but will do so tomorrow.
